San Diego is not only known for its beautiful beaches and amazing food but there is also much more to the city that draws people in from all over the world. The music scene in San Diego is a huge attraction, and it’s growing quickly. From beach bars to dive clubs to classic jazz clubs, San Diego offers a range of musical venues and experiences for locals/tourists to enjoy. Here are a few of the fan favorites around the city…

House of Blues is a historic and monumental music venue that has locations in Anaheim, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, New Orleans, Orlando, and San Diego. The San Diego-specific venue has a similar aesthetic to the rest, with a large concert hall and other smaller rooms for different-styled events. The music hall has a capacity of 900 people and has bright, vibrant colors, a great sound system, and awesome musical acts. Some of the upcoming acts at House of Blues San Diego include: Gremlin on Tuesday, November 15th, Sammy Rae & The Friends on Tuesday, November 15th, Savage Ga$p X Oliver Francis on Wednesday, November 23rd, and The Happy Fits on Wednesday, November 30th. The historic, lively, and beautiful music venue is one to check out!
Ocean beach has several great live music venues, each with its own style, theme, and music performances. The Template is a great one, it’s a coffee shop during the day and a music venue at night. The unique decor at the venue makes it truly one-of-a-kind. The vintage disco balls, animals, clothes, and paintings all over the walls make it stand out to the public and make it a fun setting for anybody who performs. This month, Template has events such as Tuesday night improv every week, Thursday night open mic, a Moon Landing Party on Saturday, November 19th, and Den Bosh OB Takeover on Saturday, November 26th. Be sure to swing by OB and catch a fun event!

A true San Diego music venue wouldn’t be complete without the beach as its backyard. Beach House is just that… the venue is steps away from Mission Beach. The 2,300-capacity outdoor venue hosts some of the most popular house DJs and events in the city. Beach House has hosted Shiba San, Kyle Watson, Protoje, Justin Martin, Walker & Royce, and many more. The beachy, atmospheric vibe of the venue brings in people from all over the country to enjoy the ideal space, music on the beach. FNGRS CRSSD, an event company that has taken over San Diego, has hosted numerous events at Beach House, along with an upcoming event this month. FNGRS CRSSD Presents CLOONE on Saturday, November 26th, which will be a great event!

Another Ocean Beach venue to check out is Winston’s, an intimate, jazz-club with great artists and a fun vibe. Winston’s has booked acts such as Dumstaphunk, DJ Logic, Ben Miller Band, Big Gigantic, Iration, Slightly Stoopid, Stick Figure, Zion I, and more. With a smaller capacity of 220, Winston’s ensures a tight-knit, surreal-sounding performance with amazing artists and fun energy. Winston’s has some great upcoming events this month such as Josh Heinrichs on Friday, November 18th, Do Right Louie with the Joshua Three on Saturday, November 19th, and Frequency 1 and The Experiments on Saturday, November 26th. Be sure to check out the locals’ favorite spot!

Local San Diegans know that North Park is an area for good food, good thrifting, and even better retro bars and nightclubs. Part-Time Lover is a new bar that looks like a typical bar on the outside, but on the inside, it’s a beautiful, unique gem with unfulfilled potential. The bar has seats filling the inside, making it a more comfortable, intimate setting. The dark red/bronze wood inside, mixed with dim yellow lighting is enough to make the bar feel cozy, professional, and progressive. The best part about this bar is the hidden record shop in the back. Hundreds of valuable records fill the shop and it’s available to the public. Part-Time Lover hosts private events and they are working on getting more music events, private parties, and fun nuance gatherings!
